FREEDOM

We use power to act, think, speak and decide as we want. We grant everyone the same right. Our policies, procedures and similar only prescribe essential and vitally necessary rules, even at the cost of some discomfort. The rule of ‘minimum rules’ guarantees everyone maximum possible freedom. Freedom is always companied by full personal responsibility, including the freedom to make mistakes. All employees take their own decisions, speak and act within the given minimum rules, and don’t need to ask for approval we accept differentness and its fruits. Decisions and responsibility are placed at the level of execution: while se say ‘what’ needs to be done, we leave the ‘how’ on those responsible for getting it done. We don’t control or check on others. At the same time, we don’t tolerate disrespect for existing rules.

FEARLESSNESS

In uncomfortable, difficult or dangerous situations we realistically evaluate the risks and remain confident, bold and brave. We inspire others to be courageous by providing a supporting environment. Fearlessness is always accompanied by careful analysis and mitigation of possible risks. In this way, we maximize gains without calling for disaster. We endeavor to be the first to present new ideas and make the first attempt. Our first reaction to a bold proposal is curiosity, not denial. Mistakes resulting from trying are a vital part of our journey, however, we avoid unnecessary or repeated mistakes.

As a company, we have a shared mission and vision. While each of us may have different ideas, skills or tasks, we always work together to achieve the same goal. Each of us knows and cherishes the common goal. In a team, our individual strengths are complementary which makes teamwork efficient and effective. Teamwork requires respect for and care for one another. We care that our colleagues have all the information they deserve, are listened to and asked for cooperation. Our know-how is always team property, and we find ways to make it such. We insist that everyone on our team receives politeness, honesty and acceptance from others.

QUALITY

Everything we do is for a specific customer, both external and internal. We define quality as meeting or exceeding customer expectations. We therefore ask all the necessary questions and provide all relevant information in order to disambiguate what the customer values from what he doesn’t. Our quality standards reflect – but don’t necessarily exceed – the legitimate interests of regulatory stakeholders. In this way we create the necessary space for delivering top quality where it brings competitive advantage and makes us efficient. We are prepared to learn and innovate in order to use every opportunity to increase quality wherever it adds value and removes waste. We understand that quality comes from a permanent and challenging dialogue between people who see things differently. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ party in such debates, just parties who found mutual agreement on what constitutes the required level of quality. Ultimately, we want to focus on quality improvements rather than solving problems caused by poor quality.

INNOVATION

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We can only present ourselves as trailblazers if we’re eager to innovate what we possibly invented yesterday. We regard innovation as fun or excitement and will always make time for it. In order to be informed innovators, we maintain deep and up-to-date expert knowledge of all aspects of our business, namely an unprecedent insight and inter-disciplinary imagination. As a result, candidates wish to join the company for its reputation as industry innovators. As part of our everyday work, we inspire others, challenge them, provoke – only to confront the status quo in search for better quality, a technological surprise or a leap in added value. We understand that not all innovative ideas will prove useful – however, it doesn’t stop us from studying them, examining and critically debating them in order to extract the gold. Creating models and testing them informs our minds of new opportunities. We even have processes set up to make innovation efficient and effective. Sharing is essential for us to learn, ask the right questions, cross-polinate imagination and inspire one another.

TRANSPARENCY

Our relationships are based on trust. We trust the purpose of the company, our colleagues, customers and suppliers – until they repeatedly prove they cannot be trusted. If that is the case, we end cooperation with them. We know that people can be transparent and honest only if they’re primarily treated as such. We therefore anticipate fairness rather than waiting for them to prove it in the first place. Under all circumstances, we tell the truth, even if it is unpleasant. Hiding a problem or a different opinion is not regarded as telling the truth. Each of us guarantees that he or she can be trusted. All our statements, both oral and written, say what they mean: contracts, accounts, policies and processes, marketing messages, feedback and others. If a wording is unclear at the beginning, we endeavor to make it unambiguous. We walk the talk. Rules are the same for everyone in the company. All decisions are supported by the ‘why’ because we believe that everyone has the right to understand why a decision was taken. If we make a mistake, we admit to it with no unnecessary delay. Hiding or justifying a mistake is regarded as non-transparent behavior. People are not blamed for making unintentional mistakes.

RESPONSIBILITY

We understand being responsible as being dependable, keeping promises and honoring our commitments. We accept the consequences for what we say and do. As a company and as individuals, we are responsible for developing our potential. We perform our duties and are accountable for ourselves. We act independently and take decisions without authorization. We therefore expect we may be blamed if something under our responsibility goes wrong. As we accept uncertainty, we are prepared but not panicked. We manage risks and plan our actions but avoid controlling the uncontrollable. Responsibility is undivided but can be shared – it means that several people can each be equally and fully responsible for something. Hierarchy or area of specialization do not mean that some people have ‚bigger‘ responsibility while others have ‚less‘ of it. We believe that each person has his or her specific responsibilities which don’t compare with others. When we fail and act irresponsibly, we are expected to reflect on it, apologize and improve.
